Hi, Kim — the China deal sounds super.
Happened to be thinking of Guatemala and found that Mayan Hands is again offering a trip there in November 2012 and one in February 2013 for $1,795 each which covers all lodging, meals, local transportation, translation and entrance fees as well as a $400 tax deduction receipt. Airfare and personal expenses are not included. For more information visit http://www.mayanhands.org. The Mayan Hands organization “partners with ..talented aritsts, in their journey out of extreme poverty and toward empowerment and self-sufficiency…”

Be prepared when dealing with the MegaBus NYC pickup location — have an umbrella and weather appropriate clothes ready. I took the MegaBus to Albany last Friday and it was over an hour late arriving. When it finally did show up the bus was overbooked, and we had to wait for another bus to arrive.
