Travel Health: Help for Motion Sickness

Whether you’re on a train, plane, or cruise ship, motion sickness can really mess with your travel experience.

Shivani Vora says that Dr Jennifer Derebery offers some preventative advice including:

1. Let your eyes see the movement: There may be an imbalance with your inner ear, and this may help reorient it.

2. Prevent the onset of motion sickness by looking ahead of movement: For example, be the driver or front seat passenger in a car.

3. Hit the drugstore: Over-the-counter antihistamenes may help.

4. Eat and drink wisely: Dr Dereby says to avoid fried, spicy and rich foods. I know: What’s left to enjoy on a vacation! But she says that these type of foods can worsen the feeling of nausea.
