Travel Tip: Keeping Your Wallet Safe on Vacation

Safety concerns are always a big priority when traveling, and losing everything in your wallet could definitely mess up your trip.

Shivani Vora of The New York Times reports about the many ways that we can minimize the damage from a missing wallet.

This advice includes:

Know Your Wallets Contents– Before traveling, I always make sure that I have a picture of all the credit cards and various forms of identification that I have on me. That way, I don’t have to rely on my memory as to exactly what was lost and who I have to contact to replace the items.

Carry Only Essentials- Before my trip, I take everything out of my wallet to see what I really need, and I leave the rest behind in a safe (and memorable) place. Local store coupons? Nope! Library card? Keep it at home.

Rely on the U.S. Embassy-If you lose your wallet while on an international trip, head to the U.S. embassy for new identification and other forms of help.
