The brand new 85-page ebook experts introduce readers to the Cidade Maravilhosa, carioca (Rio locals) culture, and its exciting sights, sounds and tastes, stunning landscapes and world-renowned beaches, festivals and events.
For travelers heading there this year, Celebrate Rio tours through the neighborhoods hosting 2016 Games venues this summer, featuring hangouts, beaches, arts, markets and more to check out while you’re there – even maps to navigate your way around.
Neighborhoods include:
· Barra da Tijuca & Western Rio

Celebrate Rio recommends the top experiences in Brazil’s most-visited city, as well as indispensable information on health, costs, safety and transportation, including maps and essential phrases. Special chapters include “Family Travel in Rio,” “LGBT Rio” and “Accessible Rio,” which offers advice for travelers with disabilities.
Planning a trip? Celebrate Rio recommends what to read, watch, eat and drink before you go – and to really get into the Rio rhythm, readers can click the Spotify playlist in the “Music of Rio” chapter, which features samba, bossa nova, tropicália and Música Popular Brasileira.
“Flavors of Rio” serves up what is said to be the best of the city’s unique and mouthwatering food scene, including juice bars, pay-by-weight restaurants and feiras (produce markets). Similarly, “Drinks of Brazil” dives into the vivacious bar scene, including night clubs, jazz bars, open-air cafes and botecos (lively neighborhood bars).
