On April 6th, I had the great opportunity to experience The Killers performance at the grand opening of the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. Fellow Las Vegas natives Jimmy Kimmel and Imagine Dragons’ frontman Dan Reynolds joined in the fun. Reynolds shared the stage with The Killers lead singer Brandon Flowers to perform “Jenny was a Friend of Mine.”

I had a great time and before this event, I enjoyed dining at two of the restaurants at The Park, the dining district which provides access to the T-Mobile Arena The centerpiece there was “Bliss Dance”, a 40 foot high statue of a woman dancing.  According to Vital Las Vegas.com, this statue was originally created by artist Marco Cochrane for the Burning Man Festival where it debuted in 2010. The first of my dining experiences there was the California Pizza Kitchen.  Fellow traveler journalists and I were informed by that this restaurant had expanded its menu, and we were invited to try many of its delicious new and existing selections. These included:

Fire Grilled Ribeye

Buffalo Cauliflower

While I was there, I was invited to learn how to create one of those delicious pizzas by throwing the dough.

Look at that gorgeous dough!

First take the dough and dip it in flour

Next create an impression around the top of the dough

Then expand the dough by moving the knuckles of your hands underneath in a circular manner

Then you toss! I won’t bother you with the pictures of my tossing. I had a good time but let’s just say that what happened to that poor piece of dough wasn’t pretty!

The second restaurant was Sake Rok. Here the atmosphere was pumped with the excitement created by impromptu performances by the restaurant’s waiters who doubled as entertainers.

The delicious dishes included sushi as well as beef.
