I’ve enjoyed reading the Lonely Planet’s guide books that have been written for many of the places I’ve visited including my recent trip to Iceland. The books are not only informative, but they’re also well organized and easy to read.

So I was happy to learn about this top travel company’s new guidebook series and app, Make My Day.  Every book is divided into three sections from top to bottom — morning, afternoon, and evening and each highlight what is generally considered to be must-see sights for each destination, as well as popular experiences and activities, and how to navigate from one point to the next.

So far they’ve prepared books for six cities- BarcelonaLondonNew YorkParisSan Francisco and Tokyo.

I received the guide for my favorite destination, New York City, and I liked it for a variety of reasons:

1.It’s very lightweight which is important to me when I’m lugging so many other things around.

2. The thicker, coated pages are held together by a spiral spine. They look durable and would survive a slight spill.

3.The three section layout allows you to flip through the book and mix and match in order to build your own customized itinerary for each day.

4. Many attractions have an interesting little note including savings and safety tips

5. The book’s mini maps can help show you the nearest transportation stops.
