What Air Travel Search Sites do You Like?

When trying to find the best flights to take for my mother/daughter trip to San Juan earlier this month, I searched using my usual collection of options including Expedia, Priceline and Travelosity.

Seth Kugel, however, reports that there are so many more available search sites. This New York Time’s Frugal Traveler suggests that we should tailor the “on-line travel agency” that we use based upon our travel needs. He provides the following categories:

If Cheap Is All That Matters,

When You Want Cheap — Within Limits,

If You’re Booking a Domestic Route on Short Notice,

When Your Dates or Destination Are Flexible,

If You Have Commitment Issues,

When You Need a Complex, Multi-Leg Route,

If Your Trip Starts and Ends Outside North America or Europe, and

When You’re Pressed for Time.

I thought that this article provided a lot of interesting tips including what sites Mr. Kugel felt presented the best on-line experience. This travel expert likes Hipmunk’s graphic displays of flights and layovers; Kayak’s input simplicity; and Momondo’s clear presentation of great information. One of the losers?  Cheapoair.
