NYC Blizzard 2015: what happened to the buildings?

My daughter Sarah just took this picture of the Chelsea area of Manhattan as she and the rest of this city’s inhabitants brace for what could be the worst snow storm in that region’s history.

The New York Times reports that the latest forecasts call for as much as two feet of snow to fall by Tuesday morning, with accumulation in some areas even higher depending on where the heaviest storm bands settle. Statewide travel bans were put in place in Connecticut, Massachusetts and Rhode Island.
