Many of us love to use free Wi-Fi while we’re traveling. But, as Stephanie Rosenbloom notes, this may put our public information at risk.
Ms. Rosenbloom offers four rules for staying reasonably safe while connected on the road:
1) Make sure that any site you visit has ‘HTTPS’ in front of the URL which means the page is encrypted.
2) Use a virtual private network or VPN which essentially encrypts all of your on-line traffic.
3) Sign up for two step verifications.
4) Bring only what you need and turn off what you’re not using. One expert recommends creating a travel email address and password.
