Last month, my daughter, Sarah, and I were invited to attend the New York Junior League’s 20th Fall House Tour. This great event that showcased six fabulous homes around Manhattan proved, not only to be a lot of fun, but also a great travel deal that anyone could take advantage of.
The ticket was well worth the price of $100 as it included so many unique activities. The night before, ticket holders could attend a lovely kick off party at Brooks Brothers on Madison Avenue and, while being served hors d’oeuvres and cocktails, we were invited to mingle in this luxury store and purchase items at a discount of 15%. We could also receive an advance copy of the map of where each of the next day’s showcased homes were located around Manhattan.
The next morning started with a continental breakfast at this organization’s headquarters, the Astor House. This beautiful five story townhouse was formerly owned by legendary millionaire Vincent Astor, and it was here that you were invited to participate in a silent auction, receive a goody bag, and get your map if you hadn’t done so the night before.
Then, from 10:30 am to 4:00 pm, it was on to six beautiful and unique homes around Manhattan including the one shown above that was said to be over 6,500 square feet and valued at more than 8 million dollars.
But wait, there’s more! As part of the ticket price, you were also invited to recharge your batteries at an included buffet lunch of gourmet pizzas, salads, and desserts on two of the floors of the Architects & Designer Building on 150 East 58th Street.
And,to to cap this event off, we were all invited to an included post-tour cocktail reception at Ethan Allen.
What a great time! I look forward to the next house tour that will be held in May of next year.
See you there!
