Ok – I can count myself as one of the almost two thousand travel casualties of our latest storm. After several airline reschedulings and then cancellations, I finally had to admit that my trip to San Francisco to visit my brother Bruce and his husband Bill was just not meant to be.
So I’ll recharge my batteries, pursue the airlines for my rightful refunds, and, for now, look back on the great time I had in sunny Ft. Lauderdale a month or so ago.

I had been invited to visit the luxurious Ft. Lauderdale Marriott Harbor Beach and, Resort & Spa, After a delicious buffet breakfast on this resort’s beach by the Atlantic Ocean, my group and I took a short ride to the Everglades Holiday Park where we boarded an air boat. I’d visited the Florida Everglades before, but had never experienced this type of ride.

The water gave new meaning to the term “smooth as glass” as you could see a clear reflection of the sky above.

As we made our way down the water, our guide coaxed birds and even alligators to come to us by tossing what he considered to be be the ultimate bait -popcorn!

After our ride, we visited the the Park’s attraction, The Gator Boys Alligator Rescue, where we learned more about the area’s alligators and the conservation efforts used to protect them.

Great time!
