I’ve already mentioned some of the great adventures that I’d experienced in Panama while on a press trip to the Westin Playa Bonita last month.
Our last full excursion was a visit to the Embera Indians and a hike in a nearby rain forest.
April was just the beginning of the rainy season so the water level was low enough to give us the opportunity to take a walk to a beautiful waterfall.
We started out by traveling in a dug out canoe.
As we rode through the shallow waters, we passed the village that we would be visiting later in the day.

Then it was on to a hike through the rain forest over rocks and through water to get to our destination.
After a short rest, we made our way back to the canoe to have lunch at the village.

As the rain fell on the thatched roof of the common lodge, a tribe member told us of their way of life, history and beliefs.
A lovely lunch of fish fried in flour was served to us.
And afterwards, we were invited to purchase crafts that they had made which included carvings from the nuts of local trees.
Great trip!
