After our lunch on the Panama Canal, we were taken to the Miraflores Lock where we learned much about the history of the canal. I enjoyed the fun interactive display that made you feel as if you were actually driving a ship down the canal.
While there, we saw a Holland Cruise Ship making its way though the lock. I was told the process takes a little time because a representative of the Canal must actually board each ship to personally steer it through the lock.

Then it was back to the Westin Playa Bonita to relax for a few hours.
Later that night we took a 15 minute ride to the Casco Viejo the historic district of Panama City. After a nice dinner at Mostaza , we walked around the area to see the interesting sites.

We then traveled back to the resort to relax before the next day’s adventures-a hike in the rain forest and a visit by dug-out canoe to the Embera Indian Village.
