While I didn’t get the chance to go this year, my daughter, Sarah, and I were able to attend one of the last big fashion events of the city-Fashion’s Night Out. Held September 8, 2011 from 6 to 11pm, this then third annual event spread across New York City to mark the kickoff of the last New York Fashion Week and to help boost the economy.
Originally created by American Vogue, the Council of Fashion Designers of America, NYC & Company and the City of New York, Fashion’s Night Out kept its promise of great festivities in clothing and accessory stores around the city.

Although we had so many choices of where to go, I knew that we only had a relatively short period of time to enjoy this event, and, as I had learned the previous year, the crowds really start to build towards the end.
So, as we had done before, we decided to stick to the Soho area because of its high concentration of trendy shops that were each having some sort of celebration.
We soon realized that we had made a good choice. There were so many things going on in that area including small and large live performances.

There was a sidewalk van selling Marc Jacobs accessories.

There were also fun events in stores such as one where flip books were made of you dancing around with your friends.

A great night!
