A popular saying in New Orleans, ” Laissez le Bon temp rouler” (pronounced Lazay lay Bon Tom Roulay), means “Let the good times roll!,” and the people of this city definitely live up to this credo through their food and attractions.
GREAT FOOD

The Big Easy is a relatively short plane ride from New York, but once you’ve eaten some of this city’s famous creole dishes, you may feel as if you’ve traveled to a distant land. New Orleans is well known for its crawfish etoufee, muffuletas, gumbo, po- boys, and jambalaya. And don’t forget the pralines!
Robert and I loved dinner at famous K-Paul’s Louisiana Kitchen. Opened in 1979 by star chef Paul Prudhomme and his late wife, K, this elegant but warm restaurant lived up to its reputation for wonderful food. We dined on amazing blackened drum fish, and we brought home some wonderful spices.
At the House of Blues, we enjoyed their hearty Sunday brunch buffet while being entertained by wonderful Gospel music. Click here for more information including their menu.
I thought that Cafe Du Monde at the French Market might just be another tourist trap but the beignets and cafe au lait were so worth the long wait in line. The warnings not to wear black when you eat these treats were more than true- these delicious pieces of “homemade donuts” are loaded with powdered sugar!
