Over a year ago,my post, Babies on a Plane-What Do You think?,” drew many comments about this heated controversy.
The New York Times recently reported that more than 800 readers graded airlines on how they were treated as a family on their last flight. The highest grade? C and that was given to Continental, Delta, JetBlue, Southwest and Virgin Atlantic.
The other airlines listed-US Airways, American and United, were all given D’s.
More than 280 people also responded, though, about their frustration with flying with children on a plane. The main cause cited? Parents who failed to manage their children while flying.
In turn, the no-kids-on-board comments were met with an equally passionate response from readers with kids.
Suggestions were made to resolve these perceived problems by having child-free flights or seating kids under 10 at the back of the plane.

I can definitely see both sides. Parents do not realize that when they travel as a family, each kid counts. So booking a trip for a family of 5 follows the same rules as booking a trip for 5 adults, aka sitting together will be a challenge if you do not book early. With the luggage fees, travelling with small children must be a nightmare.
As a childless adult, the most annoying part of kids on planes is the way the parents act. Either they’re completely oblivious or they’re incredibly defensive and overbearing. I was on a Southwest flight once when a couple with only 1 child came on. The kid picked a row and the dad told her “no keep going” to which the kid threw a tantrum. It’s was open seating! Let the kid pick or don’t have her go first!
