The New York Times reports that you can save on the cost of an airline ticket if you buy your fare on a Tuesday, months in advance of your time to travel.

The paper quotes Anne McDermott of Farecompare.com who says that most airlines begin sales on Monday evenings. By the following day, McDermott reports, other airlines will match these lowered fares on the same routes.
