I know that it sounds unimaginable right now, but two weekends ago I was actually able to escape our upstate NY area. My husband, Robert, and I traveled via Southwest Airlines to visit my mother-in-law, Bea, who lives in Boynton Beach, Florida.
As you can imagine in a world of supply and demand, the plane tickets were pretty expensive. The crazy thing, though, was that the plane ride to sunny Florida didn’t cost that much-$144 for each of us. It was the ticket getting back to our wintry world that was so expensive-over $400!
One of the favorite hangouts of the residents of this town is the NY Deli and, as soon as Robert and I landed, we were taken for lunch to Too Jay’s.
It’s estimated that the Boynton Beach area has at least 11 NY Delis. Once you’re inside one of these restaurants which are often decorated with framed pictures of the Empire State Building, the Chrysler Building and the Statue of Liberty, you’ll know why I think of this locale as a Little Manhattan.
Later that weekend we also headed to Three G’s in Delray.

Their choosy customers, generally New York transplants, were lined up out the door to dine on food that, to give them their due, could rival Katz’s or Ben’s. Here are some pictures of the food served. I’m hungry to go back.
Let us know if you have a favorite restaurant to go to in that area.

You should also have mentioned Jacobs on Woolbright in Boynton Beach. It’s a very good small town deli. But I still miss the 10th Street (2nd Ave) deli in NYC’s East Village.
