Michelle Higgins of the New York Times reports that shopping private “sales” is a good way  to help us save on travel this year.

Michelle suggests that we should use websites such as SniqueAway.com, TabletHotel.com and Jetsetter.com that all have what she calls flash sales with deep discounts for trips.

She also noted that TripAlertz.com is sort of  like a groupon for travel-the more  people book a bargain, the lower the price.

LivingSocial.com offers last minute travel deals as well.
