I have always wanted to go to a fashion show during one of NYC’s fashion weeks. It used to be held in Bryant Park, but now its held in Lincoln Center and other parts of the city.
I got my wish when I won two celebrity auction tickets to Nicole Miller’s Spring 2011 Fashion Show in the trendy Soho area on September 10th. The proceeds went to the True Colors Fund. This was great timing and at a terrific location because Fashion’s Night Out was also being held that night and some interesting parties were scheduled right next to and after the show.
I took my daughter, Sarah, and while the actual event was scheduled to start at 5:00 pm, I was advised to get there early at around 4:30 pm so that we could people watch. The train was a bit late so we tried to zoom over to the Mercer Street building by taxi. There was so much grid lock from the vans filled with designer clothes, food and catering equipment for the night’s events that we decided to eventually leave the cab and walk the rest of the way.

We walked around a little and then lined up to get in. There were two separate entrances, one for the media and those helping with the show and one for those who had received invitations. While waiting to get in, we saw Entourage star, Perrey Reeves, also standing in front of the brick building until the well dressed security men told us we could enter.

Sarah and I walked up to the second floor and searched through the rows of labeled seats to find ours.

While following someone who was helping us, we got a peek at the behind the scenes preparations for this big event including the models who were getting made-up
