The New York Times had a recent article about a new exhibition entitled ” The Grateful Dead: Now Playing at the New York Historical Society.” The Times says that the show “offers a tantalizing glimpse of material that is stirring the interest of not just hard-core Deadheads, but also scholars.”
The items on display in the exhibit that continues through July 4, 2010 include instruments, letters from deadheads, newsletters, concert programs and a rare poster.

Mitch, your sarcasm aside, lighten up. Doesn’t the NY Historical Society charge admission for its exhibits? Maybe you should criticize the real waste that goes on in State government. Anything that brings people into museums, especially from out of town or out of State, is a win-win.

My bad, I was unaware that the Museum is self funding.. the $2 million in govt support in 2007 on their financials must be an error, though I must amdit I was honestly shocked to see only about 10% of their funding was fron govt sources….
