The Academy Awards are coming up this Sunday, and it reminds me of the party I was invited to last year for that event. The party was hosted by the Academy of Friends, a wonderful San Francisco based charity that fights for positive outcomes for people with HIV AIDS.

The party was held at the Fort Mason Festival Pavilion and the theme was “Super Heroes”. The food was great with many of the local chefs participating. Quite a few performers circulated around the large area while we danced, watched a  performance from the play “Wicked” and saw the Academy Awards on various large screens.

You can imagine the great reaction when Milk won.

For this year’s 30th annual gala, the theme will be ” Behind the Seams- A Salute to Fashion in Film.”  The price of a ticket for this event is $250.00. I know that this is an awful a lot of money, but if you’re in that area and this is within your budget, I recommend that you check it out. The party is going to be great and the proceeds go to a very worthwhile cause.
